Unified Bowling

This year marked the first season for the RCS High School Unified Bowling team, and the athletes had an impressive debut, finishing with a 3–2 record in the Suburban Council Gray Division. Across Section II, there are 41 schools that compete in Unified Bowling.

Unified Sports in New York State is an official program in partnership with Special Olympics New York and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). It brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together on the same team, promoting social inclusion, friendship, and understanding through training and competition while focusing on meaningful involvement for all participants.

This inaugural season kicked off something truly special, with not only excellent bowling but a team bond that radiated beyond the lanes. Coach Stockman said, “It wasn’t about the wins or losses—it was about how we became a team.”

The team hit the lanes with determination and skill. Some athletes were new to the sport, while others were experienced bowlers, and together they built a strong foundation for future seasons. Their debut season shows that this program is off to an exciting start, and we can’t wait to see it grow!

RCS looks forward to offering more Unified Sports in the coming years. Expanding our athletic offerings for all of our students.

Season and Player Highlights:

Wins over: Schenectady, Colonie, and Guilderland

End-of-season tournament: 3rd place finish

Malaki Emmanuel: Earned the team's first turkey (three strikes in a row) of the season.

Blake Dambrosio: Highest Game Score

Becoming a Team

A defining moment of the season came after a particularly successful frame. Instead of yelling or clapping, the team remain silent, signing applause, celebrating their teammate’s achievement in a way that was meaningful for the bowler.

Inspired by the moment, the team would often ask, “How do we sign ‘your turn’?” and “How do we sign ‘good frame’?”—turning a single success into a shared moment of connection and learning.

This moment perfectly captured the bond, support, and spirit that made the team’s inaugural season so memorable. From the players to the families and RCS staff who came out to cheer, the energy and excitement were high all around.

Three wrestlers earned podium finishes:

Aiden Forster – 5th place
Carter Castagna – 5th place
Jayden Acomb – Finalist

Acomb’s finish qualified him for the New York State Wrestling Championships at MVP Arena for the third consecutive year.

Welcome to the Century Club

Two wrestlers reached a significant career milestone this season by joining the program’s Century Club, an honor awarded to athletes who achieve 100 career victories.

Aiden Forster reached the milestone at the Granville Tournament on January 17, 2026, earning his 100th career win during the event.

Jayden Acomb also joined the Century Club this season, securing his 100th career victory as a junior during the Class CC Finals.

Earning a place in the Century Club is a major accomplishment in wrestling. Reaching 100 career victories is a testament to years of hard work, determination, and the ability to compete at a high level season after season.

Congratulations to both athletes on this milestone. We can't wait to see what you do next!

Acomb Makes State Podium

Jayden Acomb capped off another outstanding season by competing at the NYSPHSAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Albany on March 1–2, 2026, marking his third consecutive appearance at the state tournament.

After dropping his opening match, Jayden battled back through the consolation bracket with an impressive run that secured a 6th place finish in New York State.

State Tournament Highlights

- Defeated Daltton Davis (Waverly) in the consolation bracket

- Won a thrilling 11–10 match over Carmine Calimeri (Southwestern)

- Faced Wyatt Rock (Duanesburg) and Justin D’Arce (Center Moriches) in the placement rounds

- Secured a top-six finish with a technical fall over Jonathan Ulloa (Oyster Bay)

Jayden’s performance ended a 12-year drought for RCS wrestlers placing at the state tournament, with Logan Kunkle in 2014 being the last RCS wrestler to place. Jayden also became only the second wrestler in RCS history to qualify for the state tournament three consecutive years.

We are so proud of Jayden's accomplishments this season. His dedication throughout his career so far has set a high standard for the program and for the wrestlers who will follow.
