We are reminding families about some important district dates and transportation events that are coming up in the month of April. If you have any questions, please reach out to your student’s main office. 

Early Dismissal and Closures

 

Thursday, April 2: Dismissal Reminder

This is a reminder that end-of-day dismissal on this day will follow the Friday dismissal schedule as it precedes a holiday or recess.

Middle School and High School: will be released at 2:02 p.m., and there will be no 10th period or 5 p.m. buses. 

Elementary: Parent pick up will begin at 2:50 pm, and bus dismissal will be at 3:00 pm. Please expect your student(s) home half an hour early.

 
 

April 3 through April 10: No School (Spring Recess)

There will be no school starting Friday, April 3, through Friday, April 10, for Spring Recess.

Classes will resume on Monday, April 13, 2026.

 

Use the Stopfinder for updated information on your student's daily transportation assignments.

Please contact transportation@rcscsd.org if you haven’t received an email invitation to register for Stopfinder, or if you have any questions regarding your student’s schedule.

RCS In the News

Albany County Launches New Pilot Program with RCS CSD

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy announced a new partnership with Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District on Thursday, March 26, about the launch of a pilot program aimed at getting ahead of chronic absenteeism and strengthening student safety in our community. 

This pilot program will utilize Edia, a leading AI platform in K-12 education, to uncover the root causes of chronic absenteeism and improve attendance trends.

RCS is excited to participate in this program and introduce this technology to our schools. Additional details will be shared with families as the District moves closer to implementation.

April District Events

 

Science Olympiad/Robotics Awards Night

RCS will host its second Science Olympiad and Robotics Award Night on Tuesday, April 14, starting at 6 p.m.

The evening will be dedicated to celebrating the achievements of our talented students in STEM. From LEGO robotics to advanced engineering challenges, the event will honor both team and individual accomplishments from a year full of learning, innovation, and collaboration.

Students in grades 7–12, including homeschoolers and students from nearby districts without a robotics program, are eligible to join the FIRST® Tech Challenge. Those interested should reach out to the Innovation Station.

 

Board of Education Meeting

The RCS Board of Education will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 15, in person in the High School Library. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m., with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. for those attending in person.

The meeting agenda will be available on BoardDocs. Additional public access to the meeting will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. via live stream. Please note that the live stream link will only be active during the meeting. Within 1–2 days following the meeting, a recording will be available on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District YouTube Channel

PBC Art Show and Community Night

Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School invites families and community members to join us for our annual Art Show and Community Night on Thursday, April 16, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Come walk the halls and enjoy a display of student artwork that highlights the creativity and talent of our young artists.

Be sure to stay for a fun-filled Community Night hosted by the PBC PTO. From food trucks to a Touch-a-Truck experience and a lively cake walk, there’s something special planned for everyone in the PBC community! Learn more about the community portion of the evening by following the PBC PTO on social media.

 
 

End of Third Marking Period (MS/HS)

Friday, April 17, marks the end of the third marking period for middle and high school students.

As a reminder, beginning in the 2025–26 school year, RCS transitioned to digital report cards and progress reports for middle and high school students. Information about your student’s progress is available in the SchoolTool Parent Portal.

AWB Art Show and Science Fair

A.W. Becker Elementary School invites families to join us for our annual Art Show and Science Fair on Thursday, April 23, starting at 5 p.m.

Come walk the halls and enjoy a display of student artwork and science experiments that highlight the creativity and talent of our students.

 

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk chapter of the National Honor Society will welcome new members in a formal induction ceremony held at the high school auditorium on Thursday, April 23, starting at 6:00 p.m.

All are welcome to attend. More information about the ceremony will be shared by the High School.

 

3rd Grade Meet the Instruments Night

The RCS Music Department will be hosting a Meet the Instruments Night that will take place in the Middle School Cafeteria and LGR on Tuesday, April 28, starting at 6:00 p.m. 

3rd graders and their families are invited to join their Elementary music teachers for a fun night of music-making and question answering. Students will be able to see, hear, and play many different instruments to get a better understanding of which instrument they enjoy playing the most. This interactive event gives interested students a tangible experience with a variety of instruments prior to joining the music program next year. 

More information about this event will be shared by the RCS Music Department.
