A.W. Becker News

October 1, 2025

A.W. Becker Community,

I hope all is well with our AWB family as we work our way into October. Its been a busy, but successful start to the school year. I want to thank all of you for the beginning of the year involvement you've shown. We had a great turnout for both Open House and the Apple Run. I want to share a few random notifications with everyone.

1.) Family PE Week is from 10/7 - 10/10. If you are interested in coming in to be part of it with your child(ren), please fill out this link.

2.) PTA membership has been fantastic! Our total membership is up 99% from last year already. There is no future obligation if you join. If you are interested in joining, there is a link below.

3.) I am putting a brief pause on our evacuation drills. We are getting new swings installed and there is a lot of supplies and equipment out back. This is where we gather during those drills, so I am just waiting until they are done.

4.) A quick message from our main office, we have paired our attendance system with ParentSquare. If we do not receive a note, phone call, email or ParentSquare message, your child will be marked unexcused.

If your child is signed in after attendance has already been submitted, or if you provide a note after the absence has been recorded, you may still receive a message from ParentSquare . We will manually update the record to reflect the correct status. We appreciate your continued flexibility as we work through this new process.

P.E. Update

Hey families!!

Just a quick heads-up that, for everyone’s safety during Physical Education class, students must wear athletic shoes (sneakers) with proper support. We can no longer allow students to participate in Crocs, Hey Dudes, or other casual footwear. Thank you for helping us make PE safe and fun for all our students!

AWB Targets and Action Plans (TAPs)

Each school year, RCS develops district and building goals that we strive to meet. This school year, AWB is starting work on four long-term goals that align with our district and BOE initiatives. These goals run through the 2029 school year. These goals serve as our compass, guiding us towards providing the best possible education and support for your children. Together, as a united school community, we are committed to ensuring the academic and social-emotional success of each student within our walls.

1.) Communication - Increase community engagement

2.) Culture and Climate - Cultivate a safe, inclusive learning environment

3.) Academic Outcomes - Provide standard aligned, relevant instruction for all students.
